Ecuador teams will serve alongside GBLI partner ministry Fundación Contigo Ecuador. This team will spend the week in Quito helping Fundación Contigo complete projects, play with the children, and engage in activities that will improve the facilities and the lives of the children at the various projects where they serve. Part of the week will be spent in Quito and part of the week will be spent on the coast in Manta. This is a great way to see different parts of Ecuador. We sent out first team to Manta in October 2016 to help with earthquake relief. Going to the coast has been a highlight of teams since then. Teams spend time with a pastor and his wife and serve alongside them as they minister to their community and to area orphanages.
In Quito, the team will stay at Bethel which is the guest house of Fundación Contigo during your time there. One of our favorite places for teams to serve is Pisuli. Pisuli is a neighborhood known for violence, extreme poverty, and harsh living conditions in North Quito, Ecuador. Each week in Pisuli, 150 kids are fed, and they receive health care, vision care, and dental care. Through Contigo they are provided with clothing, shoes, and training. There’s a program in Pisuli where the mothers of the some of the children have learned to make beautiful jewelry out of tagua to receive income that enables them to live a more productive life and have an income to be able to care for their children. Often teams are able to watch the women make this jewelry. Teams will most definitely have the opportunity to purchase some of the beautiful creations as well. This team will get to serve with Contigo in Pisuli loving on the children and families being served through this project. Sometimes this can look like helping with a project; other times it might be doing arts and crafts, vbs or simply playing with the children. Contigo works with many orphanages that include both private Christian run and government run. This team will also serve at a few orphanages in Quito.
Consider joining this team, it will truly be a life-changing and unforgettable experience.
Introductory – This trip is great for both first-timers and those that have been on many trips. Ecuador is fairly close to the US and because travel time is relatively short, this trip is a great way to serve in a time that fits your schedule.
This trip is appropriate for individuals, groups, and families. If you are pregnant or think you might be during this trip, please check with your doctor before planning to travel on any mission trip and email the coordinator prior to signing up to make sure this trip is right for you. Please note: Because Quito is at a high elevation team members will need to take extra precautions such as staying hydrated and taking it easy the first couple of days to avoid altitude sickness.
12 and over with a parent, 17 and over without. Ask for our Considerations for Children document if you’re not sure about bringing children.

Team Member Commitment
I understand that the mission trip starts the day I apply for the trip and agree that, as a part of a Go Be Love mission team, I am committing to being available for conference calls leading up to the trip and reading all emails and materials pertaining to the trip, and responding when necessary. I understand that these communications are needed to maximize the effectiveness of my team on the mission field, to prepare each person for the trip and to build team unity. For some teams, this may include 4 to 8 conference calls leading up to the trip. I understand that a large part of these conference calls will focus on a spiritual preparation and will include doing a pre-trip discipleship study together.
Go Be Love advises all travelers to read the US Department of State background notes on their website. Travelers can also check the latest health information with the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention at http://www.cdc.gov to get the most recent health advisories, immunization recommendations/requirements, and advice on food and drinking water safety for regions and countries. We also suggest that all participants consult their physician before traveling abroad.
Paying for Your Trip
Go Be Love encourages our team members to raise support. Once you are signed up for a trip, you can fundraise with all items on the team member fundraising section of our online store, you can send out support letters or come up with your own creative ideas. We use a team member database called Managed Missions that allows you to create your own custom fundraising page. Unlike other online fundraising pages, those donations will go directly into your trip account and will also be tax deductible for your donors. This feature is called Public Profile and we encourage all team members to create one and send the link to your donors who would like to give online. You and your donors can also make tax deductible payments toward your trip total by mailing checks to Go Be Love.
Flight and Travel Info
One thing that sets Go Be Love mission trips apart is that we book ALL flights for all of our team members, including your domestic connections from your home airport. Please list your home airport on your application. For smaller airports, please give several options for airports you could fly from as sometimes our international airline partners may not have options in and out of smaller airports. Please note: because we will be booking all of your flights and connections and because we do so at the best possible price – this does not always mean the best possible schedule. Many times, the international airlines we use are able to offer us domestic flight connections at a very low cost (usually only $75-$100) and therefore, we are offered a very limited class of service. This might mean longer layover times so please be prepared for this in advance. You may find a better schedule online but that doesn’t mean that it was an option within the price range and class of service we were going for. If you have specific limitations on arrival and departure times, you will need to let us know in writing 90 days or more in advance and you will need to be prepared to incur additional costs if your preferences do not fall within the class of service we are offered at the lowest cost.
About Your Leader
Ecuador Team Leader
Maddie currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. She has had a heart for volunteering and working with children for as long as she can remember and regularly volunteers with Big Sister at Big Brothers Big Sisters and The Abandon Project, an organization in Charlotte focused on urban fatherless youth. In the fall of 2017, Maddie felt the Lord calling her to international mission work and was immediately drawn to Go Be Love International because of their purpose of living out James 1:27 by caring for orphans around the world.
Maddie went on her first-ever mission trip to Ecuador in March 2018 and completely fell in love with the country and its people! Right away, she knew that she had to return to Ecuador and began planning a trip back even before she returned to the States. She is so excited to see how the Lord works during her next trip to Ecuador and can’t wait to introduce more people to the country that now has her heart!
