Mount KilimanjaroJune 4-16, 2020
Trip Cost: $5000 + airfare + visa
+ experienced Kilimanjaro guides
This is a trip to serve in Tanzania, culminating with a 6-day, 7-night hike to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro, the tallest free-standing mountain in the world and the literal “ceiling” of Africa.
Prior to the hike we will serve locally with the community in Arusha, Tanzania as we work with and learn from the people there. The in-country itinerary will look like this: Days 1-2 service in Arusha, days 3-9 on the mountain and days 10-11 recovery and debriefing about your trip.
Mount Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano, with three volcanic cones, Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira.
The mountain towers over southern Africa with a backdrop that stretches across the horizon and into Tanzania’s neighbouring nations. The highest point, Uhuru Peak is a challenging, yet rewarding climb with a 97% success rate and over 15 000 summits to date. Hikers are accompanied by experienced, professional guides and a porter team that set up tents with comfortable mattresses. The attraction of summiting this majestic mountain lies in knowing that you’ll be standing on the highest point on the African continent. And for those few moments, will literally be on top of the world.
This is a once in a lifetime trip! Space on this trip is limited and will fill up fast. Sign up now!
Extreme – this trip culminates with a 6-day/7 night hike up Mt. Kilimanjaro. Team members would need to be reasonably fit but Kilimanjaro is more of a very long hike, at altitude, than technical climbing.
This trip is appropriate for individuals, families and groups who are able to handle a several day hike, sleeping in tents, long travel times, walking, rides on bumpy roads, long days and the difficulties involved in seeing impoverished and difficult conditions. If you are pregnant or think you might be during this trip, please check with your doctor and trip coordinator before planning to travel.
14 and over with a parent, 15 and over without.

Team Member Commitment
I understand that the mission trip starts the day I apply for the trip and agree that, as a part of a Go Be Love mission team, I am committing to being available for conference calls leading up to the trip and reading all emails and materials pertaining to the trip, and responding when necessary. I understand that these communications are needed to maximize the effectiveness of my team on the mission field, to prepare each person for the trip and to build team unity. For some teams, this may include 4 to 8 conference calls leading up to the trip. I understand that a large part of these conference calls will focus on a spiritual preparation and will include doing a pre-trip discipleship study together.
Go Be Love advises all travelers to read the US Department of State background notes on their website. Travelers can also check the latest health information with the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention at http://www.cdc.gov to get the most recent health advisories, immunization recommendations/requirements, and advice on food and drinking water safety for regions and countries. We also suggest that all participants consult their physician before traveling abroad. Yellow fever is a required vaccination for entering Uganda and proof of this vaccination is also required in the pre-trip visa process. We recommend travelers schedule their yellow fever shot as early as possible as it can often take some time to find a clinic who has it in stock and get scheduled for it.
Paying for Your Trip
Go Be Love encourages our team members to raise support. Once you are signed up for a trip, you can fundraise with all items on the team member fundraising section of our online store, you can send out support letters or come up with your own creative ideas. We use a team member database called Managed Missions that allows you to create your own custom fundraising page. Unlike other online fundraising pages, those donations will go directly into your trip account and will also be tax deductible for your donors. This feature is called Public Profile and we encourage all team members to create one and send the link to your donors who would like to give online. You and your donors can also make tax deductible payments toward your trip total by mailing checks to Go Be Love.
