EthiopiaMarch 12 - 20, 2020
Trip Cost: $1500 + airfare
This spring break team is open to individuals, groups and families (children age 9 and over are welcome). We welcome Brighton Academy sponsors as well as anyone who would like to spend their spring break serving and taking in the beauty of Ethiopia.
Our team will spend time in the capital of Addis Ababa serving primarily at Brighton Academy. Brighton Academy is a primary school started in honor of Brighton Asher Hoffman. He passed away in an orphanage while waiting to be brought home from Ethiopia – but his 76 days of life changed everything for Laura and Tymm Hoffman, who started Brighton Their World, a ministry designed to provide formula and nutrition to babies in orphanages. Brighton Academy exists to provide a solid education, loving atmosphere, 2 meals a day and clean water to the students and families in the Shero Meda area of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We will spend time with the students and staff at the school and we are currently working on planning some special things for the Brighton staff to refresh and pour into them.
While in Addis Ababa, we will also get to learn about the ministry of Carry 117. Carry 117 exists to empower at-risk women in Korah, Ethiopia. There is always time to shop on our Ethiopia trips but we especially love to shop at the Carry 117 store because their creations are beautiful and those purchases help support this wonderful ministry.
While in Ethiopia, the team will have the opportunity to experience a traditional Ethiopian meal and dance performance at a wonderful restaurant called Yod Abyssinia and you’ll get to drive up Entoto Mountain for a breathtaking view. You will also get to experience an Ethiopian coffee ceremony which is always a treat.
Trip Type: Focused
This trip will focus on 2 ministries: Brighton Academy and Carry 117
This trip is appropriate for individuals, families and groups who are able to handle long travel times, walking, rides on bumpy roads, long days and the difficulties involved in seeing impoverished and difficult conditions. If you are pregnant or think you might be during this trip, please check with your doctor and trip coordinator before planning to travel.
9 and over with a parent, 15 and over without. Ask for our Considerations for Children document if you’re not sure about bringing children.

Team Member Commitment
I understand that the mission trip starts the day I apply for the trip and agree that, as a part of a Go Be Love mission team, I am committing to being available for conference calls leading up to the trip and reading all emails and materials pertaining to the trip, and responding when necessary. I understand that these communications are needed to maximize the effectiveness of my team on the mission field, to prepare each person for the trip and to build team unity. For some teams, this may include 4 to 8 conference calls leading up to the trip. I understand that a large part of these conference calls will focus on a spiritual preparation and will include doing a pre-trip discipleship study together.
Ethiopia Team Leader, Chief Operating Officer at Go Be Love International
Autumn Kerr serves as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Go Be Love International and has been with the organization for 10 years.
Before coming on staff at Go Be Love, Autumn worked in the advertising agency world for 11 years. Her background is design and writing but her passion is to live out James 1:27. This passion came alive on a trip to the Philippines in 2007 where she went on a group tour with Compassion International to meet her sponsored child. This trip was truly life changing and Autumn returned home with a heart on fire for missions and doing more to help children around the world. She has been on mission trips to the Philippines, India, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, China, Ethiopia, Uganda, Ghana, Ecuador, the Bahamas, and Haiti.
It was on a Uganda Ethiopia combo trip in 2011 that Autumn met her son Mihretu and her life changed forever in the best possible way. Autumn adopted Mihretu as a single mom and brought him home from Ethiopia in 2012. She is thrilled to be going back to Ethiopia and to be able to bring her son with her – Mihretu is now 10 years old and has already been on mission trips to Bahamas, Haiti, Uganda and Ethiopia. This will be Autumn and Mihretu’s 3rd year in a row to return to Ethiopia.
Autumn and Mihretu live in Sarasota, FL and enjoy pool and beach time as well as frequent trips to Busch Gardens and Adventure Island. They also love to travel.
