What is Merry Missionary?

In order to thrive on the mission field and find success in pursuing the Great Commission, missionaries need to feel seen, known and loved. With your help, we can bring much-needed relief and encouragement to missionaries. It’s the simple things – family retreats, new supplies, favorite treats from home – that help make missionaries merry. Merry Missionary is your opportunity to help meet those needs for missionary families globally.

Through #MerryMissionary, we’re aiming to raise $30,000 by the end of the year so we can reach even more missionaries in 2018. Will you join with us in making missionaries merry this holiday season?

Go Be Love’s Missionary Care Program History
In 2016, Go Be Love began serving missionaries through Project GPS (Gathering. Packing. Supporting.). Through Project GPS, “senders” have the ability to collect, pack, and send goods, supplies, and comforts from home to upcoming teams to deliver to overseas missionaries. Through our fall and winter 2016 teams, we were able to serve over 40 missionary families by utilizing team luggage space to bring gift items over. Many of the items were Christmas gifts and all of the items were provided at no cost to the missionary families receiving them.

In 2017, we simplified the Project GPS idea logistically and created the Giving Tree. Giving Trees can be set up at church’s, small groups or other events and allow participants to select a tag from the tree and donate the money for the item they’ve picked. Go Be Love purchases the items selected and sends them to the mission field with one of our short-term teams traveling over the holidays. Through Giving Tree, we have already been able to provide gift items for 22 missionary families.

In 2017, Go Be Love offered two Be Loved Missionary Care retreats: a women’s retreat in Fort Portal, Uganda in July and a family retreat at Murchison Falls in Uganda over Thanksgiving. Our women’s retreat served 20 women and included 24 hours of rest, relaxation, fun, and encouragement. We offered spa appointments, hair cuts, fellowship, worship, encouragement and gifts from home. More about that retreat can be found here. Our family retreat served 22 families with a total of 42 adults and 44 children. This retreat provided 3 days and 2 nights of rest at Chobe Safari Lodge in Murchison Falls National Park and included VBS and childcare, spa appointments, fellowship, worship, counseling, chiropractic, and lots of encouragement. Each family was gifted with special items from the U.S. More about this retreat can be found here.

Be Loved Retreats are designed to encourage, refresh, and nourish field missionaries. Be Loved Retreats are provided at no cost to attendees, thanks to our generous donors and church partners.

Looking Ahead to 2018 and Beyond
Merry Missionary funds raised will help us support and encourage even more missionaries in more countries through retreats, use of team luggage space to deliver gift items and field supplies to missionaries and more.
